    • good luck james…

couple of weeks back, me just drove 3 trainee cabbies after they attended classes at sim ming… cheeky trio and they tried to test my taxi knowledge… haha…

so i chatted with them and shared a few things… wonder why they want to spend whole day attending classes for a month… for me it is still internet and chop chop… anyway..

early 40s… more cabbies these days…

    • actually, it will affect new cabbies the least… why? cos when experienced drivers see income drop sure beh tahan…

whereas for new cabby, every trip done is one fare more collected…

income up or down, still must learn to drive happily… that’s the way for long term…. haha

    • if a local taxi driver can serve me just as good or better, i see no reason why allow FT and PR… cabby is a job and if local can do it well or better, why need to open up to foreigners when there is no lack of local taxi drivers?

think about this… wd you allow your gf or sister or daughter to be driven home half drunk at night in a taxi driven by foreign worker?

how long it needs for a foreigner to know where and what is ang-sa-lee and best way to get there?

    • sori to hear those experiences…

cabbies have a lot to lose if kena accidents… and they are definitely more experienced on the road

so when i am on the road, i am honestly less worried about cabbies… i am more worried those new drivers or blur cock female drivers…

      just my honest observations

    • not sure… maybe can but no marketing effort… all yellow top are ah peh drivers… how to market their cabs?

whereas comfort and SMRT got full time executives wear tie to go offices and offer deals…. and they got size i.e. 15,000 cabs

    • chicken rice – to me personally, tian tian in maxwell is way over-rated… rice not fragrant at all…in fact like shit.. best is still boon tiong kee (either balestier or river valley)...

fish ball noodle – yes, my vote is for the toa payoh lor 5. mee pok noodle solid…. the old at lor 7 is over rated… dun know why pple q there for wat…

nasi – adam road second stall
chay kuay tiao – lor 5
pig organ soup – serangoon garden hawker
      beef noodle – amoy

just my choice and taste… no offence..

    • haha… depends on taste too..

chay kuay tiao – after trying so many, i think 2 stalls at toa payoh lor 5 still earn my vote… cheap ($2) and nice…. no award but confirm wont lose to those overrated ones at old airport ($3)

nasi lemak – Adam road second stall, beat those changi village ones flat….

    • but i agree… do something with pride and passion, everyone feels good…

if me a hirer, i will also want my taxi to be clean, neat, and empty… no ornament, no loose papers flying around, no dust… like that drive more shiok mah…

and driving can be fast but must be alert and not jerky or hard braking

    • haha, once in a while long driving hours ok… but if everyday, red bull also not enough…

anyway drive till 6am is usual for younger nite shift drivers on eves or Fri nites lah….

for the older nite shift cabbies, eves or no eves, they will just close shop at 1am… they already millionaires liao… haha…

    • yo max, enjoying ur driving? haha…

after your warming up period, must slowly venture beyond your comfort zone… cos connection is key to maximise collection… e.g. if you always go back empty to west even when u are far from west, hard to collect much…

but then if u are a millionaire cabby driving for fun, then any method also can… haha

    • everywhere in town congested on ny eve nite? not really lah… b4 11.30pm only marina sq area and vivo/sentosa nia and of course CTE towards town…

in fact town traffic no movement at all from 11pm to 1am… cos all waiting in town for countdown… i was eating mee at maxwell at 12am to 1am… relax first…

after 1am all the way to 6am… penguins all out fighting with one another for cabs…. thousands of them lining up roads in town flagging for cab e.g. clark, boat, mohammud sultan, river valley, clemenceu, middle, victoria, serangoon..north bridge, PS…etc etc

outside town, east coast got hundreds of penguins, few even flagging along ECP… west side i dun know… suppose hol v area also good.

sentosa, vivo, i avoided completely… not worth the jam…

once i reached town 1am to 6am, call dropped like atomic bomb liao… only place in town to get a cab is really those spots where the cabs just turn out from CTE e.g. PS bus stop… if u wait few meters after PS, u can wait till 6am if not calling for cab… seriously… i was half the time avoiding those paxs who spilled over onto the roads… i saw this scene on labour day eve… ny eve is many more times that…

amazing nite for cabbies… enjoy while it lasts….next year is pay back time… haiz…

    • wau Vee, u kena alot of drunk issit? haha…

      1. No experience but not keen… very ley cheh cos u need to park your cab and take cab back later… e.g. if clark to tamp cab fare $20… time taken 2 way is almost 50min incl waste time with drunkard…. no $70, me not keen…

      2. so far, only few pax spill a bit into my cab… they cleaned up a bit can liao…. no extra charge… but if really merlion, wau lan eh… I will demand at least $30… equal to 1 hour of loss income to clean up…. phew!

      3. go police station… take money from his wallet… leave him there…settle liao…

      4. me wont ask whether me can refuse or not… if badly drunk, i just refuse… knn… go where also cant say properly… how to go?... waste time… later merlion some more…

      5. Taxi driver usually gives way to one another as long as it is not to switch lane to pick up a potential pax…. standard…

      my usual practice,

if very drunk fellow alone, dont pick…not worth the hassel and risk

if very drunk with friend, i will ask and make sure drunk go down first or together… otherwise reject…

      like that loh
